Emmanuel Kampouris

Emmanuel Kampouris is the retired Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of the New Jersey-based American Standard Companies, Inc., a leading global competitor with technologically advanced products in the air conditioning systems, bathroom and kitchen fixtures and fittings, and vehicle control systems markets. In 1999, Kampouris capped his 35-year career with American Standard by leading the company to record sales of $7.2 billion. Kampouris served his last 10 years at American Standard as President and Chief Executive and was elected Chairman of the Board in 1993.

Prior to joining American Standard, Kampouris worked in Greece and Egypt. In 1966, he joined American Standard's plumbing products subsidiary in Greece as General Manager of Manufacturing. While working for the subsidiary, he progressed through its managerial ranks to become its Managing Director in 1969. Coming to the United States in 1979, he was made a Vice President and Group Executive of American Standard's Building Products sector responsible for international and export operations. Kampouris was named Senior Vice President of Building Products in 1984.

Kampouris serves on the boards of Click Commerce, Inc., Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Stanley Works and SmartDisk Corporation. He is on the Board of Trustees for the Hudson Institute and a member of the Eisenhower Exchange Fellowship, The National Endowment for Democracy and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (1994-2001). He is also a member of the Economic Club of New York, Oxford University Council for the School of Management Studies and the Oxford Law Society.

Kampouris earned a master's degree in law from Oxford University, Oxford, England and a degree in Ceramic Technology from North Staffordshire College of Technology, Stoke-on-Kent, England.
